Good for you Southwest!

June 4th, 2008 Posted in Aviation, Business | No Comments »

May I direct you guys to the Southwest site at the moment… they are advertising the fact that they are not charging people any extra fees… Good for them, that’s the way it should be. It is rediculous that passenger will have to pay crazy fees for check-in bags, snacks, fuel surcharges, etc… if an airline can not cover their cost with their cost of the ticket, they should change the price of the ticket period. If due to government regulations, that makes it hard to change the price of the ticket, the government should change their law. In todays competitive market, it is not acceptable to have government regulated fares. Good good for Southwest!

World Of Warcraft

April 22nd, 2008 Posted in Personal | No Comments »

I can not believe that I actually brought this game and now I am completely addicted to it. This is all thanks to Jon and Trevor… also my brother Jacky and Vicky, who convince me to purchase the game in the first place… I will have to say though, the game is very well thought out. Much better than the 1st generation online game, Ultima Online… the graphics are nicer, the quest are better, the professional class is much better. Overall, I am a very satisfied customer. I got 3 character now, one level 15, two level 12. This is after playing for 3 days. I intend to concentrate on 1 or maybe 2 characters for now. We will see how it goes. For those who has never play WoW, it is worth checking it out. Sooooo much fun….

Story of Magenta…

April 3rd, 2008 Posted in Personal | No Comments »

If anyone who ever visit Engadget.om (I am a big fan and read it daily), you will have heard of the story about Deutsche Telekom suing Engadget for using the color “magenta #ed008c” for the website for Engadget mobile… So in support of Engadget and Ryan Block (also partly to protest against those stupid corporate lawyer who has nothing better to do), everyone should post the follow graphics on their website!

What I think about Vista SP1…

April 3rd, 2008 Posted in Aviation | No Comments »

Having finally updated my Vista to SP1 about a week ago, I want to give an update to my previous comment with regards to Vista being a shitty OS… After spending a week with Vista SP1, I will have to say the performance of the OS is much better than pre-SP1, althought still not as good as XP SP2. Having said all that, I can now comfortably to say that Vista SP1 is finally a usable OS from a consumer perspective. It handles memories much better and less of a resource hog. Anyway, good for Microsoft for finally putting out something good.

New Layout Again!

March 31st, 2008 Posted in Personal | No Comments »

Hi everyone, long time no post. I’ve got some time on my hand, so I have been busy updating my wordpress software on my server and at the same time update my theme. It is still a work in progress but I thought it is coming along pretty good. Especially with the new wordpress function, the management side of the site is much improved. I especially love those sidebar items which is now widgetize… so I can move them around and organize them any way I want it, all done without doing anything to the codes. Very awesome stuff. So far I am a very satisfied user! Anyway, I am still trying to get the facebook photo album uplink to work, once that is working, I will be a truly happy man! In the mean time, take care for now. Ciao.

Vista is the buggiest piece of OS

May 9th, 2007 Posted in Technology | 2 Comments »

Ok… I have to say, after using Windows Vista on my new Sony Laptop for about 2 months, I can now confirm that Vista is a very buggy OS. Much worse than my last upgrade to XP. What’s worse, I can’t even update my Vista because Windows Update gives me this error code 80080005. I contact Sony, they told me that they have no solutions and neither do Microsoft. So I was like GREAT… Microsoft and Sony, what are two great companies who have no idea what they are doing.

Also Vista is also every buggy in a sense that after using the computer for hours, some of the functions (ie: the right click manu), will no longer works. I will right click on my mouse but nothing will happen. I will click to try to activate a program, it will not load. This is especially true with IE7 and Microsoft Office 2007 running on Vista Business. All the other programs seems to be ok… only with the Microsoft owns program that is giving me this problem.

Overall, from a consumer point of view, I am not satisfly with Vista. Even though Vista got nicer user interface and all, I will have to say, it is way too buggy for a common user that I don’t think it is ready for prime time yet. It is simply release prematurely. It is just sad, Microsoft, just can’t seem to get anything right nowadays.

JFK to HKG

January 7th, 2007 Posted in Aviation, Work Related | 2 Comments »

Just a few days ago, I operated from JFK back to HKG and we used the Polar 2 route. I just thought I will share a few pictures that I took of the instruments in flight. It was pretty cool that we flew within 60nm of the North Pole! Too bad it was too dark to take any pictures outside.

[I ran into some problem when posting pictures, will post them asap! Sorry about that :O(]

Observation Flight HKG - NRT (Tokyo) - HKG… A340 Sim

October 28th, 2006 Posted in Aviation, Work Related | 1 Comment »

Yesterday, I had my first observation flight from HKG to NRT (Tokyo) and back. It was on a HXC, an A34D… Captain of the day is Andy Morrison and FO Alec Barnes, they are both very kind to show me around the aircarft, it was an awesome experience. The take-off from went really smoothly without too much delay. It took us about 3 hours 30 minutes to arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport. For our flight, we were assigned to the short runway (16R) at Narita and Captain Morrison performed the landing. It doesn’t seem very fast after we have touch down, I think it is the perspective that fools you because the runway is so wide and it makes you feel you are going very slowly. It was a long taxi around the airport to spot 17 (yes, they use spot instead of bay in Japan). It took about 20 minutes to get to the parking gate and the brakes get to about 400C by the time we reached the gate. The turn around is very fast, the Captain show me the cargo hold, the crew rest area during the turn around. It was very cool, the crew rest looks much bigger than I though and so is the cargo hold. For the return flight, we were again assign to use Runway 16R, so it is a even longer taxi to the hold point. This time it took us 30 minutes. Since this is a short runway, we also performed a TOGA take-off which was very cool. The return trip was uneventful with a lot of Cathay aircrafts within 10 nm of ours, all heading back to Hong Kong. It is pretty funny to see all the other aircraft below us. We are very light, so we are flying at FL390 when other aircraft at flying 2000ft, 4000ft and 6000ft below us. It is very interesting how the Hong Kong ATC handing this very well and got us all spaced out by the time we get into Hong Kong for the approach. It is very funny that one of the aircraft below us (another Cathay aircraft) was trying to pass us, without much success, so he kinda back off afterwards… hahaha… just very interesting that’s all. Anyhow, over all it was a fun experience. Anyway, I am heading off to do another simulator sessions this afternoon. Sim is going well, I can finally flare the aircraft properly. It is all coming along very cool. In the mean time, take care for now. Ciao.
