Stupid Marketing / Management?
November 21st, 2008 Posted in Personal | No Comments »Today I was reading up on the google mobile and the google earth apps for iphone… they seems kinda cool, so I thought I will search it on the Hong Kong Apple App Store… to my surprise, it is not there… after doing some quick search on the web, I realize, google is country profiling their apps. Making they apps only available in certain countries (namely North America and Europe) and not others. I rackon this is the stupidiest move that google could have done. Why will you want to alienate your users from the rest of the world? Especially since these apps are universal apps, it is not something country specific. So from a marketing perspective, it just piss people off. There is a lot of piss off people on many different forum with regards to this country profiling on the apple apps store by different companies. I hope that apple and google and any other company who sells on apple apps store that do country profiling, to correct their mistake. It is not a very good to make a certain users from a different part of the world to feel they don’t deserve the same software. This is just plain stupid marketing and management period.
